LED Display Tips for Humid Weather (Rainy Season)
Humid weather (like the “returning humidity” in southern China) can damage LED displays, causing issues like short circuits, corrosion, or abnormal display performance. Here are preventive measures:
Table of Contents

Moisture Sealing
- Check Seals: Ensure the display’s casing and seams are free from gaps. Use waterproof tape or sealant to reinforce the seal.
- Choose High Protection: For outdoor displays, choose IP65-rated or higher; for indoor displays, control humidity levels in the environment.
Regular Dehumidification
- Use Drying Agents/Dehumidifiers: Place silica gel packets inside the display or use industrial dehumidifiers/air conditioners to reduce humidity.
- Preheat Before Use: Turn on the display 30 minutes before use to maintain internal temperature above the dew point, preventing condensation.
Daily Maintenance
- Clean Water Droplets: Wipe screen surface gently with a dry cloth or soft brush to avoid liquid penetration.
- Check Internal Humidity: After powering off, open the back panel to check for condensation, and dry it out if needed.
Power and Circuit Protection
- Waterproof Power Modules: Use moisture-resistant, waterproof power equipment and check for aging wiring regularly.
- Disconnect Power: During extended periods of non-use, disconnect the power and cover with moisture-proof cloth.
Adjust Usage Habits
- Shorten Operating Time: During extreme humidity, reduce display usage time to prevent overloading.
- Regular Power On: If the display isn’t used for long, power it on for 30 minutes every few days to expel moisture.
Emergency Backup
- Spare Modules: Keep spare power supplies, modules, etc., on hand for quick replacement in case of malfunction.
- Professional Repairs: If screen issues like flickering or color distortion occur, immediately disconnect the power and contact professionals. Avoid DIY repairs.
Environment Optimization
- Installation Location: Avoid placing displays near windows or vents. Install a rain shelter or barriers.
- Monitor Humidity: Install humidity sensors to activate dehumidifiers if humidity exceeds 60%.
Reminder:
After a period of humid weather, it’s recommended to check the display thoroughly, including the circuit board and connection wires, to ensure long-term stable operation. If the equipment is wet, it must be thoroughly dried before turning it on to avoid short circuit risks!
